Thanks to the folks at Kia for allowing me to test drive their beautiful vehicle.
My thoughts about cars are usually relatively straight forward. I ask questions like what sort of gas mileage a particular car gets? How does it performs in a crash test? Will it last? Will my family fit in it?
But rarely do I respond emotionally to a car.
A few weeks back, I had the chance to drive a bright “inferno red” 2014 Kia Soul. And I did have an emotional reaction, I loved it!
My family and I were taking a trip down to Disneyland, and since we have driven other Kia models [Sorento, Forte] using the same route before, we thought it would be great to test drive another Kia to compare them.
My husband, my two boys and I loaded up the back of the vehicle with all our luggage and off we went to Disneyland. Besides it's loveable cuteness, we got great gas mileage even with all of us and our luggage. We calculated our trip at about 31 mpg (30.7, mostly highway, but some slow traffic in LA, and we had a lot of fun with the infinity audio system with the speaker lights that gently changed colors (these are not standard, but are additional installed equipment).
Just some of the many standard features that impressed us were the 6-Speed Automatic Transmission with Active Eco System, the 18″ alloy wheels, the remote keyless entry, Bluetooth® wireless technology, heated power folding mirrors with turn signal indicators, lots of airbags, plus many other standard features too numerous to list.
I checked out safercar.gov, which is powered by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and it says the 2014 Kia Soul has an overall rating of 5 Stars.
I think the commercial is pretty cool, too!
Have fun this summer!
