Bad Hair Day premieres today, February 13, 2015, on the Disney Channel starring the very talented and hilarious Leigh-Allyn Baker (best known for her role as Amy Duncan in Good Luck Charlie) and the equally talented and gorgeous Laura Marano.
A few days ago, I had the good fortune of seeing Bad Hair Day in a pre-screening together with Leigh-Allyn, who not only stars in the film, but is also the executive producer. We asked her what one message she would like girls to take away from this film and this was her answer:
“Your identity, who you are comes from the inside. It doesn't come from what's out there…A lot of people like to toss around ‘believe in yourself' and…this is more than believing in yourself. It's knowing yourself and being okay with who you are and not looking for approval from others and knowing when to call for backup.”
Bad Hair Day tells the story of a beautiful and very intelligent high schooler, Monica (Laura Marano), who is excited about the prom. She has developed a computer program to choose the perfect dress, the perfect shoes and the perfect hair do. But on prom day everything that can go wrong does go badly wrong! The only thing that isn't wrong is a stunning diamond necklace she bought at a pawn shop a few days ago.
She is worrying about how she is going to fix everything in time for the prom when she receives a visit from a police officer, Liz (Leigh-Allyn Baker). Liz is looking for the necklace Monica is planning to wear. Hilarity and action adventure fill Monica and Liz's day while they are pursued by a dogged jewel-thief (Christian Campbell). At the end of the day, both Liz and Monica's lives are changed forever.
The movie is refreshing and funny, a perfect family movie. Don't miss it tonight at 8 EST/ 7 Central on the Disney Channel.
