When I was a little girl the first Disney movie I ever saw in a theater was Cinderella. For that reason alone, it has a very special place in my heart.
I like Cinderella because it is about the power of transformation, and how our heroine found the confidence and self-esteem that released her true potential.
Many girls, including me, have dreamed (or dream) of being a princess, wearing a grand gown, having a beautiful singing voice and finding Prince Charming. In a lot of ways I had that. I was the princess of my home (the only girl), and while I didn't have the most beautiful singing voice ( I get by), I did find my Prince Charming in the year 2000. So you could say I have my happily ever after.
But the cherry on top came in the form of an invitation to a Glam Ball to celebrate the World Premier of the new Disney live-action movie, Cinderella, which opens in theaters today, March 13th.
Of course, I immediately said, “yes!,” to the invite. Who would pass up the chance to rub elbows with the likes of Kenneth Branagh and Cate Blanchett after all? (She is truly gorgeous by the way.) And Downton Abbey fans will recognize Lilly James (Cinderella, two photos at top) and Sophie McShera, who play Rose and Daisy on the much loved series. In the photo below, Sophie is standing next to Holliday Grainger from The Borgias, they play Cinderella's stepsisters.
JCPenney brought a group of bloggers to the Loews Hotel in Hollywood, where we were treated to hair styling and make-up courtesy of JCP salon (did you know JCPenny had beauty salons?). In addition, they provided accessories to complement our outfits as we headed out to enjoy the Ball and the movie premier. It was a magical night. And since a photo speaks a thousand words, here are some from that wonderful day.
Here is the JCPenney salon…
Don't the snacks look yummy?
I love my curls! Thanks to Liz Ojeda from JCPenney Salon for doing my hair. The curls looked amazing and lasted all night long.
They had tons of jewelry to choose from, it was tough deciding!
I felt like I needed a little ice for the red carpet, so this is the necklace I chose. I shared it on Instagram that night. (If you are reading this post by email and cannot see the instagram photo below, just click on the link to this post at the top of your email to see it on my blog, thanks!)
We just had to have a picture with our clutches.
The party was just starting when we arrived, this is right outside The El Capitan Theater in Hollywood. It was a rainy day, but it didn't rain on our fun, inside it was very cozy and spectacular. We had a big welcome! There were Cinderella posters everywhere! And we had the chance to see the real dress from the movie.
The event had plenty of activities for kids as well. (If you are reading this post by email and cannot see the instagram video below, just click on the link to this post at the top of your email to see it on my blog, thanks!)
If you have your own princess at home, check out the complete Cinderella line at JCPenney, these are really adorable pieces, including the blue dress, the “glass” slippers, and fun t-shirts.
I really got my #JCPCinderellaMoment.
Be sure to see the new Disney Cinderella!!
Thank you JCPenney for the magical night, the pampering and the accessories.
