Let’s make strawberry ghosts for Halloween. These sweet and juicy treats are easy to make with our step-by-step tutorial. Let’s do it!
As Halloween approaches, it’s time to add a playful twist to your spooky-themed treats. Say hello to Strawberry Ghosts!
They are not only adorable but also fun to make. You only need fresh strawberries and chocolate to transform them into ghostly delights.
Why Strawberry Ghosts?
They are a fantastic Halloween treat for several reasons. First, they offer a burst of natural sweetness. Second, these red gems are delicious and packed with vitamins and antioxidants, making them a more nutritious alternative to some of the sugary confections typically associated with Halloween.
And finally, they are easy to make.
Presentation
You can present them as simply as putting them on a colorful plate, or more elaborately, like placing them on a bed of crushed chocolate cookies or cake to resemble “dirt.”

The Chocolate
For this recipe, I used two white chocolate baking bars and a few milk chocolate chips, but you can also use candy melts. I personally prefer chocolate because the flavor is better. But you can use either.
Storage
If you are going to eat them the same day just leave them in a cold and dry area away from direct sunlight.
Please store leftovers in an airtight container, making sure they are not touching each other to prevent sticking, and put them in the fridge up to 3 days.
Place a sheet of parchment paper in between, if you store them in multiple layers, to protect their spooky faces.
Let’s make them!
Strawberry ghosts
Ingredients
- 1 lb fresh strawberries
- 8 oz white chocolate, I used white chocolate baking bars
- 2 oz milk chocolate chips
Equipment
- Colander
- Kitchen towel or paper towel
- 1 medium microwave-safe bowl
- 1 small microwave-safe bowl
- Parchment paper
- Toothpicks
Process
Wash and let the strawberries air dry for a while (don’t remove the stems). Then, dry them entirely with a kitchen towel or paper towel.
Ensure they are completely dry and that there are no blemishes or open areas. Otherwise, the chocolate won’t stick to them.
Before starting, cut a large sheet of parchment paper and put it in your work area. You will place the strawberries on it after dipping them in the chocolate to set.
Cut the chocolate bar into pieces and place in a medium microwave-safe bowl. Melt them according to the instructions on the box. I put the bowl in the microwave for 30 seconds, stir, and repeat until the chocolate is liquid.
If you prefer, you can melt them on the stove using a double boiler.
Hold one strawberry by the stem and dip it into the melted white chocolate, moving it around to ensure it is completely covered. Allow a little bit of excess to drip to create the ghost's tail when you place it on top of the parchment paper. Repeat.
Here is a video of the process.
It’s important to let them rest to allow the chocolate to harden. In my case, it took approximately one and a half hours, but it may be different for you depending on the weather or temperature at your house.
If you use candy melts, it may take less time as they set faster.
Melt the milk chocolate in the other bowl and, with the toothpick, create ghostly expressions.
Allow the chocolate to set again and enjoy!
Happy Halloween!
